Setting up a Website using WordPress

Even simple things feel impossible to do until you start doing them. Thats what happened to me when i wanted to start with this website. Frankly speaking making a website had never been so easy before WordPress made its way in the world of netizens.  Getting me started with this website took a lot of pushing and efforts as i was too reluctant to start with WordPress. But with the support, constant help and advice i finally realised making a basic website  with WordPress is an easy and joyful task.

Before getting started you need to check some important things first. Find out if your website hosting provider has inbuilt WordPress software installed on the server. If Yes, then you can work on the WordPress through the inbuilt installation. If Not, then you can download the software from the official WordPress website depending upon the Operating System you use.

You can download the WordPress Desktop client from here  https://wordpress.org/ and then follow the below given procedure.

Note this procedure is to be followed only if you have installed the WordPress software on the computer.

Now that you have downloaded and installed the WordPress on your computer, you will need to keep handy the log-in information of your website hosted on web-host server.

You can access the server of your website directly from the hosting provider or you can download a FTP Client which can be downloaded freely, to log in to the server of your website. I would suggest you to use the FTP client present on your hosting provider. If you want to use third party FTP client then there are many options available. I use filezilla ftp client

Once you have logged into your website server account, you need to upload the WordPress files that you have on your computer into your website server. This can be done simply by copying the entire WordPress folder and pasting the contents of that folder into public_html folder that you can see in your website server. Depending upon the internet speed the files may take some time to upload the WordPress into the server. Once the upload is complete you can use WordPress for your website.

These procedures are common to both users:

Using WordPress and making a Website.

Now that you have installed the wordpress in the website server you can create and design the website by logging into wordpress and setting up the desired theme and contents for your respective website.
